Burzy is an unspoilt village in the heart of the Southern Burgundy countryside. It is situated 35 minutes from the A6 motorway at Chalon sur Saône, 20 minutes from Cluny and 40 minutes from Macon.
The main activity is predominately Charolais beef farming, and the placid white cattle grazing in the fields around will soon become a familiar sight to you. Our own house is a former farmhouse, and while we do not farm ourselves professionally, we do keep goats, sheep and chickens. The village church is XIIth century and a good example of the many Romanesque churches in the area constructed by the monks of Cluny abbey. There are two ancient ‘lavoirs’ where the women of the village used to meet to do their washing, numerous pretty houses built from the local stone and several footpaths and bridleways.
There are several good restaurants and cafés close by.
